I am so tired of misinformation and often complete nonsense when it comes to diets and genuine, permanent weight loss.  Every Diet Expert is self proclaimed and I have yet to see a diet which has been founded on scientific research with evidence of properly conducted human trials.

It’s as if we suspend our common sense when we respond to advice about any product remotely linked to our vanity.  Beauty products and weight loss products are probably the greatest examples.  We want to believe they work, we kid ourselves that they work and we blame ourselves when we realize they haven’t worked.

In the case of diets there is the added dimension of risk to our health.  Each time we trustingly embark on some new ‘cannot fail and it’s so good for us’ diet we take a risk.  Most times, all that happens is that within a month, sometimes a year, we find ourselves back to where we started, not just with the weight we had before, we now have extra weight.  Have you ever stopped to wonder why?

Everything has at least one reason.  Thirty to Forty years ago weight problems and particularly obesity were very rare.  People with medical conditions like an underactive thyroid or diabetes were practicably the only people who were permanently overweight, and type2 diabetes was unheard of.

What happened forty years ago, was the birth of the diet food industry and the new professions of nutritionist and dietician.  All these groups will tell you that over time, they have made an enormous contribution to the health and weight of us all.  I think it’s time we analyze that contribution.  How?  By taking a good look at the people we pass in the mall.  Are you seeing an increase in slim people? I don’t think so!

Forty years ago, we still relied on our body’s mechanism to control our weight as we had done for centuries.  An obesity Epidemic would have been a ridicules notion.  We knew by instinct what was good and what was bad for us to eat.  The percentage of overweight people was very small and obesity was almost unheard of.  When present, it was usually a medical condition not a food problem.

Unlike now, there was no need to seek a way to get permanent weight loss, we already had it and practiced it daily.

Today, sixty percent of our population is overweight, and the numbers are growing daily.  Many of these people are, or will go on to become obese.  Yet, never before, were there so many experts or products available to assist us to lose weight and to ‘get healthy’.  The diet industry is one of the biggest most lucrative industries on the planet and the most amazing thing about that?  The fact they virtually didn’t exist until forty years ago.

What is the second most amazing thing?  Not one of the diets so aggressively promoted for the past thirty years, have had to undergo scientific scrutiny.  No genuine data has been published and no trials have been conducted with human participants. Not for a single diet.

Like me, you might now realize that the growth of the diet industry originates at the same time and has kept well in step with the growth of the human body.  A coincidence?  I don’t think so!

Human beings were not designed to be overweight, nor were they designed to diet.  Nature had its own way to deal with the food we used to eat.  But like so often, we had to go one better than nature.  The price we have paid is to lose touch with our time worn instincts and our body’s ability to deal with the food we eat.  we have simply forgotten the rules about how and what to eat.  What is worse, we have caused damage to our body.

My Own Plan was written specifically to reverse the damage before it is too late and to get back to permanent weight loss…Forever!

involved in what ends up on your food plate.

So, yes; I did discover a way to cure my weight problem, permanently, without diets and without counting calories. The most important thing about it is that It Is Not a Diet. Not only will you finally be happy with your body, but so will Nature.

Counting calories has become as normal as brushing our teeth. We are wired up to worry about calories which we seem to treat as a kind of barometer to our weight.  In truth, you can lose weight without calories, because calories do not matter.  Calories serve only one useful purpose; they make you think you are in control.  They distract you from the fact that if you eat less food than you need, you will be hungry and you will lose weight. That’s called a diet.

Calories are a bit like worry beads, playing around with them takes the focus off the hunger. You can combine diet foods in hundreds of different ways, but you will never escape the fact that if it involves less food than normal it is a diet and you will be hungry.  Nobody can stay hungry forever.  In your mind you may think; I can do this! And you will mean it because you will do what it takes to lose your weight for good.  But it never is for good because your body is not going to let you do it for long.

You have not been designed to diet and the body will always fight back.  It has clever defenses’ like cravings and binges to keep you in line.  Sure, you will lose weight for a while, but if you keep it up, hunger will eventually drive your body to switch into famine mode. That means all but the most essential food you require for energy will be stored on your body as fat.

Your body is now in charge and it will use its arsenal of tactics to make you eat more so it can store more fat for protection, right there on your hips and thighs, anywhere it can create a cushion.  That’s to help you get through the long, difficult famine ahead. Why a long, difficult famine?  Well chances are you have been through diets before and the body has learned from experience that such famines need extreme measures.

Only the most motivated dieter gets much beyond this point before giving up. The weight loss you have managed to achieve will not be back immediately, but bit by bit it will return till, eventually, you find yourself with more weight than when you began. This is your body’s way of protecting you against a future famine. In other words, the more you diet, the more you compound your weight problem.  You will eventually realize that this is a battle you cannot win.  Long term all diets fail, why?  Because diets were never part of nature’s design.

So it is not just hunger that defeats you.  Sooner or later your body steps in to protect you from yourself.

The Diet Industry claims they are not to blame for their numerous failed diets.   People are at fault because they do not follow the rules. That is just a plain insult.  People really DO have will power and many DO actually persevere with diets against impossible odds.  In the end, they fail because the product is no good. We cannot challenge nature and win. That is why we can say categorically that diets never work long term…Ever!

Think about it, if, over the past forty years just one single diet had proved to work permanently, we would all know about it.  There would not be a person left on the planet with a weight problem.  Try to imagine a diet as if it is some other project you are about to create.  Your instructions will be to put your best efforts into it and never rest, because the moment you do, your wonderful project will slowly collapse.  I ask you, would YOU start that project?

So what about calories? Let’s face it, once you realize that diets don’t work why would you bother to count calories?

I wonder if you know that most people in the sixtieths and seventieths were not only unconcerned with diets and calories, they had no need to care. In those days the vast majority of people were of normal weight. Yet today, we learn that two thirds of the population is overweight and governments are talking about an obesity epidemic. What happened in such a relatively short time?  Human Intervention happened!

But this is not about the problem.  This is about the solution, and yes, there most certainly is a solution to how you can lose weight for good. The great thing about it is that unlike a diet this will not involve any hunger. Your body will not be under threat so it will have no cause to raise the alarm. You will not need a diet to get rid of your weight and you will not have an excuse to count calories because you won’t be hungry.

It may sound too good, but that’s because till now you have seen your weight problem as a huge obstacle to the things you want in your life and none of us ever really believe that we can get everything we want.  So let me reassure you by telling you that not only will the results make YOU happy, but your body will be happy and nature will finally approve!

You will be amazed how quickly you will come to view your permanent weight loss as something you don’t have to think about.

Normal weight will finally be one of those things you take for granted.
