For the first time ever, there is a true answer to that nagging question and the answer will amaze you. It involves carbohydrate and, to be precise: Carbohydrate Addiction.
The book, My Own Plan, by Kirsten Plotkin, will shock many people. Not least because of the simplicity and obvious truth of what it reveals, but because it begs some very serious questions like: Why has it taken more than thirty years for someone to figure this out? Why did this important discovery not come from a medical expert or as a result of scientific research? And why did it take a retired Australian business woman, turned writer, five years, to dare publish her discovery?
These questions can be answered very simply: A cure for permanent weight loss and obesity is not what the world has been waiting for. Not the world of diet, nutrition and guru practitioners. And certainly not the powerful lobby of snack food and cereal manufacturers.
This book is bad news for vested interests who will realize that the information contained in this book cannot be ignored by medicine or science. These professions will finally have to acknowledge obesity as a medical problem. It certainly should not remain the playground of pseudo experts and powerful conglomerates.
The original handover of responsibility to these pseudo professionals may have happened by default. Weight gain and obesity would not have been an important consideration to medicine thirty years ago. In those days, weight problems and obesity were rare conditions and when present, were often, assumed to be the result of self indulgence and therefore self inflicted.
Nothing could have been further from the truth. Weight problems of any kind should never have been gifted to unqualified ‘experts’, not even by default. Not a murmur of caution or a single voice of protest was raised at the time. Only now, when an obesity epidemic is looming, is medicine showing an interest. We will wait a long time for these ‘experts’ to be held accountable.
The result of this unprecedented transfer of responsibility was that vested interests were given free rein to live off ‘the fat of the people’. For more than thirty years, they have used us as Lab Rats for their unproven, misguided theories about diets. They have offered these diets earnestly and sincerely, without a shred of legitimate scientific tests or trials to back them up. Their suggestion that every person needs to be on what they call a ‘healthy diet’ is dangerous and it puts them right in the face of nature.
In every case, we the public have been test subjects for hair brained diets which had no chance to do anything but eventually make us fatter than ever. There Is Not A Single Diet, In The Past, In The Present, Or In The Future, That will Ever Work Long Term. We, and more to the point, our own bodies, have forgotten what we are supposed to eat.
Nature never intended us to ‘diet’. Our bodies were always designed to control and maintain our weight independently, except when a medical condition makes intervention necessary. The obesity epidemic is a testament to voodoo science, bad information, misplaced confidence and lack of genuine research on what is healthy for human beings to eat.
This book could not be published five years ago, when there was just a theory with nothing to back it up. That is no longer the case; Kirsten Plotkin has spent five years successfully testing her discovery – on herself. Only then did she have enough information to publish what she learned. The book speaks for itself and you will be left in no doubt that we have messed with nature and need to rethink our whole approach to food.
The book charts how the discovery was made and how it can work for anyone with weight problems. At no stage is a ‘diet’ suggested. In other words, this book is not a Diet Book. When guided by My Own Plan, your permanent weight loss will occur automatically. It will be a by-product of a small change in lifestyle, which is carefully explained in the book.
